With Toy Story Land soon to be open in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Mickey Views has an interesting comparison on how the concept art we’ve seen over the years shows some slight, but instantly noticeable, budget cuts. He points out the Wild West town planned for the entrance of the land, the original (and superior) Slinky Dog Dash Coaster Layout, and other venues and locations around the land. Some budget cuts could have been the result of Shanghai Disneyland or the need to rush the land to expand the park. Mickey Views explains that some of these additions could be done in a later phase, as the focus for construction is Galaxy’s Edge and Disney wants to end Toy Story Land as soon as possible to ramp up speed. The comparisons between different concept art shows how these projects are in a constant ebb and flow, balancing theming and a faster return of investment.
